Supercube

Acrylic and gouache paint on paper, 24” x 18,” 2022

When I was creating “Supercube,” I wanted to play with how geometry and space can trick the eye, making something flat feel dimensional and alive.

I’m deeply inspired by architecture and how it organizes space, and that influence definitely shaped this piece.
I wanted to inject a sense of playfulness, almost like the painting itself is in motion.  The cube is not perfectly balanced as if it is shifting and could continue to shift more at any moment.

For me, “Supercube” is about creating an experience for the viewer — a way for them to engage not just with the visual elements, but with the space between them, the depth that isn’t really there, but that you can feel. It’s a way of exploring how we perceive space.
