Study for the “Skyscraper Series”
I love the interplay between art and architecture. Imagine a future where many buildings will have facades that looks like a rich tapestries, they will not be repetitive glass, concrete and steel patterns but something to appreciate like massive paintings.
This study for the “Skyscraper Series” imagines art and architecture being transcended into something more uplifting than most large buildings we are creating now. Can you picture buildings that lift your spirit when you see them? Our skyscrapers are testaments to breathtaking engineering and great design but we can further stir one's senses with an exterior of rich colors, bold lines and wonderful designs.

An exhibition of my art, curated by Sector Seven Contemporary Art Gallery @S7CAG, is now on exhibit @jonescoffee, 693 S Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105.
This abstract watercolor Blue Green Fractional Modeling was created in part to help stimulate the viewers cognitive associations.
Vered Aviv, in a study made the point, "abstract art frees our brain from the dominance of reality, enabling the brain to flow within its inner states, create new emotional and cognitive associations and activate brain-states that are otherwise harder to access. This process is apparently rewarding as it enables the exploration of yet undiscovered inner territories of the viewer’s brain.”
Jones Coffee Roasters make really amazing coffee. I really appreciate that their farm produces one of the highest-grade coffees in the highlands of Guatemala. The farm is recognized by leading specialty coffee organizations for its commitment to the environment and to the welfare of its worker community, including education and medical care.

The Tao Te Ching, a 5,000 year old book on philosophy, asks us to consider that a key to life is ‘unlearning’ things - rather than continually accumulating more and more knowledge. The author, Lao Tzu asks us to substitute our practice of daily accumulating for daily diminishing.

Post Precious (Three Cubes),
9/23
Here is a proposal for a radical new art movement. Let’s call it the Post Precious Movement. It’s about taking the art a little less seriously and appreciating that art is like us - bound to get scars and change over time.
Among other philosophies this movement would celebrate Wabi sabi, an ancient philosophy closely tied to Japanese culture. Wabi sabi sees the beauty in imperfection, appreciates simplicity, and accepts that change is inevitable.
Post Precious is a movement that encourages the playfulness of art. Artists collaborate and even the recipient of an artwork is welcome to add or subtract from the work s/he bought or received. Since all things are only at peak condition for a period of time we would admire the inevitable, the time the work is no longer ideal. We would to explain how our art may is less precious but equally prized.
